Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Employment Job Developer



The Job Developer is responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities in securing and maintaining employment. This role focuses on job referrals, employer outreach, and job placement, helping participants overcome barriers and navigate the hiring process. The ideal candidate is people-oriented, organized, and passionate about inclusive employment.



Career Access program is a community outreach initiative designed to offer vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.


Location: Bronx, NY 10455



Minimum Qualifications:



  • An Associate's degree is required, and a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, and career exploration.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus.
  • Must be organized, people-focused, and comfortable with outreach.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills (Word and Excel) are also required.


Employment Job Developer Principal Responsibilities:



  1. Assist participants in identifying suitable job opportunities aligned with their career objectives. Facilitate connections with employers and coordinate job interviews for program participants. Provide ongoing support during the application and interview process, including mock interviews and feedback sessions.
  2. Refer clients to appropriate employment opportunities aligned with their goals and strengths.
  3. Maintain a portfolio of employers and training providers that support competitive, integrated employment outcomes for clients.
  4. Build and sustain strong relationships with inclusive employers and community training programs.
  5. Coordinate and organize employment fairs and hiring events in collaboration with the program team.
  6. Meet established employment and training quotas in alignment with program outcomes.
  7. Provide follow-up services to ensure job retention and client satisfaction.
  8. Accurately document client services, placements, and progress.
  9. Work closely with the Job Readiness Instructor, Financial Literacy Coach, Social Worker, and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor to ensure clients meet employment readiness goals, financial literacy, and retention.
  10. Represent the Careers Access Program at outreach and networking events to expand employer partnerships.
