Equipment Solutions Executive

SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide overall leadership direction to

multiple Equipment Facilities and their teams; including asset optimization, fleet

management, investment strategies, and small tools; coordination with group

leadership and our project sites, establish and manage budget controls, purchasing,

accurate and timely billings, and rental agreements for equipment. In an everchanging

an exceptional experience to group leadership, our project teams, trade partners,

and customers.

LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN

RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive overall financial performance of equipment facilities

Responsible for Profit/Loss for the equipment facility, which includes:

  • Intermittent updates to both Group and Operating Group Leadership

  • Oversee annual operating budget with input from Operating Group Leadership

o Includes reviewing forecasts and providing guidance for adjusting/responding in conjunction with Operating Group backlog; initiating corrective actions if needed.

  • Development and review of Capital Expenditure requests and presentation

to various entities within Mortenson based on collecting input from Operating Group Leadership and knowledge of fleet

  • Review of Equipment Facility Billing - Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring we maintain appropriate cashflows

  • Request and review proposals/quotes from vendors; approve invoices in alignment with budget

  • Manage equipment rates

  • Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to improve forecasting and reporting of financials, driving a culture of financial accountability within our equipment facilities

  • Assist in the development of the group's strategy as it relates to new offerings, equipment, or services, to promote financial growth

  • Champion for new business development inclusive of investment and procurement strategies; develop and present business cases for new investments

Champion Customer Service

  • Clear and concise communication, with follow-up and/or feedback to customers

  • Assist in the planning of projects as it relates to equipment strategy

  • Includes basic understanding of project contract to ensure compliance as it relates to equipment planning and/or consumable purchasing

  • Develop and implement procurement plans based on knowledge of project needs and consultation with Operating Group Leadership

  • Act as an advisor in the development of solutions for group challenges

  • Inform customers of new technology and equipment solutions; maintain presence as a solutions provider

  • Manage remote projects, which will include visits to project and vendor sites

  • Reporting to project teams as well as Operating Group Leadership

  • Develop and share innovative solutions

  • Participate in marketing and outreach events

  • Develop programs and plans to advance the business (i.e., Trade Partner Rentals).

  • Partner with new or developing Operating Groups to establish processes and programs to suit the business needs

  • Promotes culture of innovation and curiosity across all group positions

  • Ability to influence without authority; activate reaction or change from Partners

Manage and Develop Team Members

  • Promote a safe work environment

  • Responsible for team member development and performance, which may include craft and non-craft positions; includes potential management of remote team members

  • Provide job assignments and organization to the team, includes approval of timecards

  • Forecasting staffing needs based on workload

  • Promote and support lean initiatives

  • Lead teams of comprised of varying levels of experience

  • Serve as a mentor to less tenured Equipment Facility Managers

  • Lead group training sessions comprised of other managers and specialists

  • Ability to act as a backup when Director is not available or away

Equipment Management & Order Fulfillment

  • Ensure production operations by determining work priorities

  • Maintain equipment inventory schedule repair and maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment

  • Support product development and improvement

  • Review new product plans; discuss equipment needs; coordinate activities of technicians and workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment

  • Champion Trade Partner Rental, which includes procurement (buyout), maintenance and closeout of all agreements

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships

  • Creation and execution of rental and sales contracts

  • Design, implement, and modify preventive maintenance programs by reviewing production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics, inspecting operating machines, equipment, and systems for conformance with operational standards

  • Ownership of the Capital Expenditure process with support from Operating Group leadership

  • Development and issuance of Requests for Proposal (RFP) for major initiatives

  • Assist with the development of annual business plan

  • Tasked with special projects or group initiatives.

  • Identify, establish and maintain key vendor relationships, representing the group's best interests; focusing on improvement opportunities in the form of both efficiencies and cost mitigation

  • Establish key relationships with industry partners with the goal of advancing the way we do business (i.e. technology, equipment, etc.)

  • Assist with the development of strategic initiatives, which includes trialing new ideas

  • Provide leadership and support to multiple Operating Groups and/or regions both physically and virtually

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years relevant experience, or 10+ years of experience

  • Minimum seven years' experience in rental of construction equipment and in general equipment

  • Microsoft Office Suite Advanced or above required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience with billing software required

  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adaptive, effective written and verbal communication, as well as active listening skills

  • Proven positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills

  • Experience leading teams and developing team members

  • Open to change based on diverse input and feedback

  • Effectively work with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

  • Strong cross-cultural relationship building and influencing at all organizational levels

  • Ability to assess and determine the priority of multiple customer needs

  • Working knowledge of purchasing/rental processes and procedures

  • Strong organization and planning skills

  • Strong data analytic skills, specifically using various software applications

  • Ability to influence

  • Vendor negotiation skills required

  • Comfortable developing content and presenting in front of Senior leadership

  • Strong Leadership presence, particularly as it relates to engaging in problem solving and thinking creatively to advance the business.

The base pay range for this role is $139,000 - $208,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
