The Office of Enrollment Management comprises five functional areas, including The HUB - a one-stop student service center that provides individualized, professional and highly efficient enrollment services to students and families. The HUB and the other offices within Enrollment Management, including the Office of Admission, University Registrar's Office, Student Financials and Enrollment Systems,, and the Office of International Education, work together to provide students, families and the campus community with student support and administrative services from the time of recruitment, to enrollment and all the way through graduation.

The HUB staff are responsible for delivering comprehensive services and counsel for matters related to financial aid, billing and payments, ID cards, and registration and academic records with the goal of supporting and enhancing Carnegie Mellon's recruitment, retention and persistence goals.

The Student Services Specialist (SSS) provides information, resources and services to students and parents in The HUB and works in partnership with the Assistant Directors in our centralized student servicing center. At the front counter, on the phone and via email, the SSS responds to questions from current and graduating students regarding enrollment processes, financial aid, student loans, billing and student account payment, and the sometimes complex intersection of these areas. The SSS is expected to seek out information within Enrollment Management or on campus in order to redirect student inquiries, if needed. This position attains an understanding for the inner-workings of the university environment, while offering and expecting opportunities for taking initiative and process improvement.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Provide answers to inquiries from the University community via phone, email and in-person regarding Enrollment Management services, which includes Student Accounts Office, Student Financial Aid Office, University Registrar's Office and Enrollment Systems.
  • Informed on the following processes and can assist students and parents with the financial aid process and eligibility requirements, basic registration information regarding cross registration, add/drop process, withdrawal and leave of absence, change of grade, etc.
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the ID Card Services station.
  • Training new staff members and student ambassadors.
  • Participate in on campus events.
  • Collect check and scholarship payments and provide students with receipts.
  • Provide services including, student requests for on demand/walk in transcripts, documents for financial aid and other enrollment forms.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree required; combination of education, training and experience will be considered
  • Minimum up to one year administrative and customer service experience required; previous university experience preferred
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
