APM Terminals We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee and drive the continuous improvement of terminal operations. This role will focus on our operational transformation efforts, leading an operations team and ensuring customer needs are met in daily operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, optimize workflows, and ensure consistent operational efficiency across all departments through lean methodology and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage terminal operations, including but not limited to gate, yard, and rail functions, ensuring seamless daily execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive operational transformation initiatives by implementing lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices across all departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, optimize workflows, and standardize best practices.
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence among frontline teams.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance service levels on delivery, reduce dwell times, and improve asset utilization.
  • Facilitate change management efforts, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes.
  • Act as a key liaison between operations, commercial teams, and external stakeholders to align service expectations and operational capabilities.
  • Support workforce planning, training, and development to build a high-performing, agile operations team.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on transformation progress, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • A BA/BS in Business or related subject
  • A minimum of 5 years in terminal operations.
  • Ability to set operational plans with mid-term impact by maintaining standards that lead to high performance and execution.
  • Ability to improve and make important changes rapidly. Requires significant onsite time necessary to deliver training effectively.
  • Ability to exchange and adapt skills when working together across boundaries.
  • Broad knowledge in designing and delivering effective training, as well as forecasting training needs.
  • Occasional travel to other Americas Terminals with possible international travel. Occasional work may be needed outdoors in the Terminal Yard, which may have exposure to outdoor weather elements. Ability to cover other shifts as needed to deliver training.
