The Saturday Academy Support Person plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Saturday Academy program. This individual will provide essential logistical and administrative support, with a focus on student well-being and program continuity. The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, and enjoys working with middle and high school students.
The NC-
MSEN Pre-College Program provides
STEM enrichment for all students who live in central and eastern North Carolina through various activities such as Saturday Academy,
STEM competitions, and summer camps. The
MSEN program will host multiple summer camps and employ a temporary teaching assistant for May-August.
This is a part-time position, typically working on Saturdays during the academic year. Work will be primarily conducted in a classroom and campus environment. The successful candidate must pass a background check.

Key Responsibilities:
- Logistical Support (Morning & Afternoon):
- Assist with the morning setup of classrooms, moving materials and supplies to designated classroom spaces
- Help with the afternoon packing and cleanup, ensuring the space is left in a clean and organized manner.
- Support the MSEN Staff with various administrative tasks as needed.
- Student Supervision & Chaperoning:
- Serve as a chaperone for students during any MSEN (Math Science Education Network) field trips or when guest speakers are on campus, ensuring student safety and adherence to program rules.
- Actively supervise students during breaks and other non-instructional periods.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for all participants.
- Lunch & Food Services:
- Manage the setup and distribution of lunch for all students and teachers.
- Ensure a clean and orderly lunch area during and after meal times.
- Help with the disposal of trash and recycling.
- Substitute Teaching (as needed):
- Be prepared to serve as a substitute teacher in a classroom setting if an instructor is absent.
- Follow a provided lesson plan and maintain a productive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and ensure student engagement.

- Four-year degree in teacher education
- Prior experience working with the NC-MSEN Pre-College Program's Saturday Academy and summer camps.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a flexible schedule on Saturdays.
- A positive attitude and a passion for student success.
