We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer to take ownership of a manufacturing materials marketplace supporting production and field operations. This role focuses on streamlining material flow using 2-bin Kanban, part-level planning, kitting, and inventory control, while supporting procurement coordination. It is ideal for someone eager to apply lean principles in a real-world environment and grow their career in supply chain or manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Marketplace Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of an internal manufacturing marketplace supplying kits, parts, and materials to production teams.
- Ensure high service levels, short lead times, and responsiveness to evolving demands.
- Implement lean workflows and visual controls to improve throughput and accountability.
- Optimize tugger system to service multi building campus.
- Oversee an expected team of 12 route operators and market attendants.
Kitting and Fulfillment
- Design and manage kitting operations to support build, installation, and service teams.
- Maintain kit BOMs, standardize labeling/packaging, and ensure kit accuracy.
- Continuously improve kitting layout and processes for efficiency and ergonomics.
2-Bin Kanban Systems
- Implement and sustain 2-bin replenishment systems for high-use components and consumables.
- Maintain accurate replenishment triggers, monitor usage trends, and reduce stockouts.
Part-Level Planning
- Develop and maintain planning tools at the component level based on usage, forecast, and production requirements.
- Maintain a PFEP for the MMC campus
- Collaborate with planners and engineers to align supply to build schedules.
Procurement & Inventory Support
- Assist procurement by raising part requisitions and coordinating with vendors.
- Support receiving, stocking, and issuing processes.
- Perform root cause analysis on shortages and inventory errors.
Success Metrics
- Reduction in material shortages and kit errors
- Bin system stockout rate
- On-time kit readiness
- Inventory accuracy improvement
- Lead time reduction for internal orders
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
Experience
- 1+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, operations, or supply chain role.
- Internship or co-op experience in a lean manufacturing environment is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with Kanban, lean materials flow, and kitting systems.
- Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems, and inventory tools.
- Exposure to barcode scanning, WMS, or warehouse layout design is beneficial.
Soft Skills
- Strong communicator with a bias for action and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams.
- Hands-on, organized, and adaptable.
