Job Description:

Crew Supervision & Leadership
* Directly supervise journeymen, apprentices, and foremen under their command.
* Assign tasks based on job priorities, skills, and manpower.
* Mentor and train foremen and lead workers in both technical and leadership skills.
* Ensure proper staffing levels to meet project deadlines.

Project Planning & Coordination
* Interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to plan daily and weekly tasks.
* Coordinate pipefitting activities with other trades (welders, electricians, HVAC, etc.).
* Work with project managers, engineers, and site superintendents to meet schedule and budget targets.
* Order materials and manage inventory for the job site.

Quality Control
* Inspect installations for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
* Enforce quality workmanship standards across all phases of pipefitting work.
* Identify and troubleshoot piping system issues.

Safety & Compliance
* Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, policies, and procedures (e.g., OSHA, union rules).
* Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inspections.
* Ensure all workers have proper PPE and safety training.

Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain daily job logs, including crew hours, completed tasks, and issues encountered.
* Communicate progress reports to upper management or the general contractor.
* Track and report change orders or deviations from the original scope.

Union Relations
* Ensure all work complies with union agreements and jobsite jurisdictional rules.
* Handle disputes or grievances among union crew members when necessary.
* Promote apprenticeship training and uphold union standards.

Problem-Solving
* Resolve conflicts or challenges that may arise during construction.
* Address schedule delays, technical issues, or manpower shortages quickly and effectively.

Common Work Environments
* Large-scale commercial buildings (hospitals, schools, office buildings)
* Industrial facilities (refineries, power plants, chemical plants)
* Construction sites for infrastructure projects

Skills & Qualifications
* Extensive experience as a journeyman pipefitter.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Deep understanding of piping systems (steam, gas, water, chemical).
* Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
* Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and union labor agreements.
