The opportunity

Job Summary:

Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a Student Worker as an Alumni Engagement Assistant based at our campus location. The Alumni Engagement Assistant provides high-quality customer service to the Southern New Hampshire University community. General duties include event coordination and logistics, general office support and special projects as assigned. Employees must, on occasion, be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Our student employee is essential in helping us build community and support alumni connections with SNHU. We look to hire a student who is inquisitive, demonstrates integrity and has a passion for SNHU.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an ambassador of SNHU, and represent and support the Office of Alumni Engagement at various events and opportunities

  • Collaborate with Alumni Engagement staff and work towards garnering excitement and support for major events in student body for Founder's Day, Homecoming, Global Days of Service, etc.

  • Aid with research and data projects and have familiarity or a curiosity to utilize Microsoft Excel, LinkedIn, and database management

  • Support with general office tasks; make calls to event attendees, support mailings such as Class Notes, inventory tracking, etc.

  • Communicate upcoming events, programs and volunteer opportunities with alumni and donors

  • Collaborate with the Office of Alumni Engagement and Institutional Advancement to move strategic initiatives forward

  • Other duties as assigned and as allowed based on student's interest and availability which may include research, inter-department projects, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work with a diverse population

  • Self-motivated and has a proven ability (after training period) to take initiative, and work effectively in an independent environment

  • Organized, excellent work ethic, timely, reliant and has a strong attention to detail, in conjunction with comfort level of working in fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in multiple forms; in-person, email, and phone

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Due to the nature of the work and the training needed across multiple databases, we are looking for students who are in their first or second year of their program.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency

  • Experience with data management and data entry

  • Exposure to and involvement in event planning

  • Demonstrated passion for SNHU including, but not limited to: involvement in clubs and organizations, and/or leadership opportunities

Additional Information:

  • 2 to 3 days, Monday - Friday: Office hours are 8am - 4:30pm with occasional evening and weekend hours.

  • Scheduling will not exceed 12 hours per week, and typically range from 8 -10 hours per week.

Verbal and written communication, customer service, teamwork, integrity, time and project management, event planning, database and technology management, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
