POSITION SUMMARY:

The Rental Associate will provide exceptional guest service by assisting guests with the selection and setup of rental equipment. They are responsible for demonstrating a high level of knowledge of rental equipment, and being able to advise the guest appropriately. In addition, the Associate will also be involved in regular daily maintenance and testing of the equipment. They will follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Maintain a friendly, congenial and helpful attitude when dealing with guests.
  • Select and setup rental equipment for guests, including, but not limited to:
    • Fit correct size boots.
    • Select appropriate size ski/snowboard and length.
    • Adjust bindings.
    • Ensure forms are correct.
    • Instruct guest on use of equipment.
    • Understand and utilize computerized rental system.
  • Perform continual maintenance and upkeep of rental equipment including:
    • Clean and repair boots.
    • Inspect bindings.
    • Repair and tune skis and snowboards.
    • Repair pole baskets and grips.
    • Perform mandatory, periodic ASTM inspection and testing of rental equipment.
    • Comply with required risk management and indemnification procedures as well as other rental shop practices and procedures including:
      • Binding certifications.
      • Binding adjustments.
      • Forms, documentation and records
      • ASTM binding testing.
      • Post-accident reporting.
      • Consistently following essential safety protocols.
  • Know all products, services and prices offered in the rental/repair shop as well as being familiar with those of the resort.
  • Foster an attitude of teamwork and cooperation within the rental/repair shop and the resort.
  • Perform upkeep and maintenance in the rental shop and on tools and machinery as needed.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and well organized shop.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Ski Rental/Repair Shop Supervisors.

EXPERIENCE:
  • No seasonal experience necessary but strongly encouraged
  • Previous Customer Service Experience Strongly encouraged

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.


MOUNTAIN ENVIRONMENT:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

It will also be the responsibility of any employee of Winter Park Resort to be a positive influence on the transformation of the resort and its associated lines of business.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts' total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $19.00- $20.00 per hour
