Planning Coordinator

Basic Function: Coordinates the daily activities of customer orders to meet production schedule and to maximize on- time deliveries

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Efficiently and accurately assigns bare and/or buffered fibers to production jobs
• Expedites orders to minimize late deliveries to customers
• Designates, coordinates and communicates priorities for buffered fiber production to increase efficiency
• Coordinates with supervisors and leads the upstream production of buffers with the needs of downstream operations
• Coordinates with Stock Cage supervisor to maintain supply of stock orders
• Coordinates with Sales regarding status of stock and manufacturing orders
• Oversees WIP buffer inventory levels and adjust buffering activity accordingly
• Works with ERP Coordinator to insure fibers are sufficient and accurate for jobs moving to the floor.
• Advises downstream internal customers (Production, Engineering, Procurement) of deviations or issues with fiber flow to the floor. Recommends courses of action to reduce or eliminate deviations.
• Intra-departmental cross training as required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: Two years experience running extrusion or cabling equipment at OCC and two years experience as a Lead Operator preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration: None

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills. Ability to use keyboard and ERP computer system to complete assigned work.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Mechanical aptitude and ability to review order specifications. Ability to plan, detail, and communicate complex work programs, functions, and operations. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely. Ability to work in a team environment with the responsibility for training, motivating and monitoring others. Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately, and to recognize, record and help resolve problems. Ability to organize, complete tasks and manage time.

Working Conditions: While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for detection of alarms and communication with coworkers. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles - appropriate individual safety devices are provided for proper handling.
