OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2026 at our Los Alamos, NM office. This position will support the Electrical team in Merrick's Nuclear Science & Technology business unit. This position will offer the opportunity to work on a wide array of projects including hotcells, nuclear laboratories and other research facilities. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2026.

We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity from approximately September - October 2025. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received. Interviews will take place in the Fall/Winter. Offers will be extended in Winter/Spring. Timeframe subject to change.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Merrick Internship Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of electrical design. Our intern will be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including, but not limited to, facility electrical power, motorized equipment, instruments and control systems, lighting, grounding, fire detection, lighting system, communication systems and access control.

The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering with an electrical emphasis from an ABET accredited program
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate or technologist degree.
  • Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design
  • Client Projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM PowerTools, ETAP).
  • Local Candidates Preferred.
