Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically adept Sales Engineer to join Aireon's team. This role serves as the technical bridge between Aireon and our Customers, responsible for supporting pre-sales efforts, guiding solution design, and ensuring seamless onboarding.

The ideal candidate excels in translating complex technical capabilities into practical customer solutions and thrives in environments that require both strategic thinking and tactical execution. This role will sit within the Product Management & Strategy function and play a vital role in shaping the customer experience from initial engagement through deployment.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the sales team to engage with customers, leading demos, prototypes, and technical responses to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Understand customer objectives and translate them into technical terms that align with Aireon's capabilities.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility and recommend data delivery models and integration pathways. Guide customers to ensure alignment with our product framework.
  • Act as a technical advocate for customers, capturing their needs, edge cases, and constraints into product development and roadmap planning.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance during onboarding, configuration, and early deployment. Ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation with minimal friction.
  • Maintain a feedback loop from customer experiences to internal teams.
  • Support the development of product documentation, including user guides, release notes, and training materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitive landscape to inform product development and strategy.
  • Conduct market research and customer engagements to identify customer needs and market opportunities.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with experience in software development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • 3+ years in a technical sales engineering, solutions engineering, or other customer-facing roles, ideally in SaaS, aviation, or data-centric industries.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with enterprise customers and translating business requirements into technical outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical content to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive and customer-focused, with a bias for action and a solution-first mindset.
  • Ability to travel 25%



Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of the aviation data market including ANSP, Airline, Airport, OEMs, and System Integrators.
  • Strong working knowledge of APIs, data delivery pipelines (Databricks, python, and tableau), PostgresSQL, and system integration architectures.
  • Experience either delivering or integrating, sensors and data for national security applications.

1-3-6-12 Month Plan

In the first month we'll expect you to...

  • Get onboarded and train with your manager
  • Understand Aireon CDS product offerings, architecture, and data delivery models
  • Shadow sales calls and customer demos to observe how we position our value
  • Familiarize yourself with the tools, teams, and key stakeholders across sales, product, and engineering


At 3 months we'll expect you to...

  • Participate in solution design conversations with prospects and early-stage customers
  • Start documenting technical feedback from prospects and channel it to the product team


At 6 months we'll expect you to...

  • Lead portions of sales demos and technical discussions with minimal oversight
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate recurring customer needs into product requirements
  • Provide technical onboarding support to new customers post-close and track implementation success


At 12 months we'll expect you to...

  • Serve as the technical resource for strategic deals and complex integrations
  • Lead the development of reusable demo assets, reference architectures, and onboarding templates
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying gaps in the sales-to-onboarding process and proposing enhancements
  • Be a key voice in strategic product discussions, offering insights grounded in customer engagement
