Job Summary: The Field Welder Technician 2 (Line Bore) works independently to perform complex welding repairs, fabrication, torch work, and line boring on heavy equipment and components utilizing Holt, Caterpillar and AWS Welding Procedures, Standards and Codes in both a shop and field environment. This position will lead and direct most aspects of a job as the qualified person when working with others. The incumbent in this position shall model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to complete most complex welding repairs on steel and steel alloys utilizing FCAW, SMAW, and GTAW processes (all position) and perform complex torch work, cutting and gouging. * Advanced knowledge of equipment and dimensional tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. * Advanced knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations. * Advanced knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. * Great work habits, accuracy and an exceptional attention to detail and quality of work. * Advanced technical skills as a qualified welder and fabricator with a demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned welding tasks. * Solid verbal and written communication skills. * Utilizes influencing skills and problem-solving skills with a developing mechanical aptitude. * Adaptable to changing schedules and exhibits time management skills. * Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and standard operating procedures when performing welding fabrication and repairs. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong work ethic being dependable, reliable, and honest with demonstrated integrity. * Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work. * Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding. * Required to be a self-starter. * Ability to read, write, and understand information with the ability to follow directions and procedures. * Ability to perform complex line-boring jobs and complete complex fabrication jobs solely from blueprints. * Ability to sharpen drill bits and cutting tools accurately. * Ability to complete most undercarriage repairs with minimal supervision. * Ability to remove, repair and install most components on heavy equipment. * Demonstrates all skills or requirements of lower tech level jobs within the department. Additional Requirements: Valid Driver's license required. Must have a clean driving history with no major infractions Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B or above) within 90 days of start of the position and must have an acceptable driving record. Ongoing Safety training Advanced selling skills Education and Experience: * Technical training or college courses (Welding Technology) preferred. * Six or more years required. * Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) 1" 3G and 4G on both A36 and T1 * Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) 1" 3G and 4G on both A36 and T1 * Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) 3/8" 3G and 4G * First Aid/CPR; Confined Space Entry; Methane/O2 Deficiency * MSHA Supervisory Responsibilities:
