Summary of Position

As Clinical AI Scientist I - Digital Pathology, you will collaborate in cross-functional teams to help design, implement, and continually improve on advanced Clinical AI modules and pipelines for high-throughput analysis of digital pathology images. At the Scientist I level, you will assist in clearly defined projects and provide relevant insights during team discussions. Your technical skills, along with some direct supervision, will lead to the successful completion of new modules and in the improvement of existing modules for image analysis, processing, visualization, and storage.

Key Job Elements

Research and Development



  • Understand and learn the algorithms, models, frameworks, and methods used by the team.
  • Make recommendations for model and pipeline revisions and improvements.
  • Assist in model annotation, training, deployment, and integration to production.


Production Support



  • Help resolve identified analysis and pipeline production issues.
  • Participate in discussions on current and future Clinical AI modules, making recommendations and providing insights for improvements and development.
  • Support pathology staff and software development teams in automation efforts.


Data Maintenance



  • Treat sensitive data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Expand on and triage internal digital pathology annotation sets to maintain high-quality AI models.


Validation



  • Run existing procedures for testing and validation of new or updated Clinical AI modules and pipelines.
  • Document and maintain data used for testing and validation.


Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience



  • B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Applied Math/Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience through projects or research in a related scientific discipline (computer vision, machine learning, or deep learning).
  • Hands-on skills in coding with image data for annotation, classification, segmentation, and/or object recognition.
  • Experience in relevant programming languages (Python) and with deep learning libraries (pytorch, tensorflow).
  • Familiarity with digital pathology and basic pathology-related images and concepts (different stains as well as their purpose; basics of immunology and tissue structures).
  • Must enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic issues without assistance.
  • Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to communicate in an open, transparent, timely and consistent manner.
  • Experience in team software development and integration projects is a plus.
