Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and team focused CalibrationTechnician to support the intake and outtake of calibrated tooling and daily operational flow of the Metrology Lab. This position plays a key role in maintaining accuracy and efficiency in tool tracking, database management, vendor coordination, and communication with trades and other calibration facilities. The role also provides secondary support for calibration activities as needed. Primary Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Intake and outtake of calibrated tooling, ensuring accurate records and proper handling and storage of all equipment.
- Maintain and update the calibration database (ATICTS), tracking statuses, due dates, and history of tools.
- Process and file vendor certifications, ensuring documentation accuracy and proper recordkeeping for traceability.
- Coordinate tool drop-offs and pickups with trades personnel and tool cribs to ensure timely service.
- Track, store and maintain laboratory standards.
- Obtain and track quotes from vendors, and coordinate with the department administrator for purchasing equipment, tooling and supplies needed for laboratory operations.
- Complete internal and external shipments, ensuring proper documentation and on-time deliveries.
- Communicate with trades, tool cribs, vendors, and external calibration facilities.
- Support calibration of tooling as needed under the guidance of senior technicians.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent (associate degree in a technical field preferred)
- 2-4 years of experience in a tool crib, inventory management, logistics, calibration, or similar technical support role.
- Experience with database entry, tracking, and reporting systems.
- Familiarity with processing and filing technical documentation.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including, documentation handling.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and measurement equipment.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of calibration processes and standards.
- Experience using precision measurement tools or working in a metrology or quality control environment.
- Prior experience coordinating with vendors, obtaining quotes, and managing procurement activities.
- Experience developing or improving workflow processes and tracking systems.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and manage a high volume of work effectively.
- Basic math skills to support tool measurement and calibration tracking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for interacting with trades, vendors and internal teams.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
- A quality-focused approach, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all processes.
- Ability to analyze workflows, recommend improvements, and help build sustainable processes to support lab operations.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
