Job Description

The HRIS Systems Specialist position is a member of the UM System HR Information Systems (HRIS) team. The HRIS team provides software support to employees, and applicants, for HR related systems. This may include, but not limited to recruiting, training, and manager/employee self-service functions. This position specializes in the key area of Core HR, specifically with Peoplesoft maintenance and development. Experience in this area will be crucial to the success of this position.

This position will help provide essential services to six business units (4 universities, MU Health Care, and UM System), including potential job candidates, existing employees, and retirees.

In addition, this position will:

  • Assist in the review, testing and implementation of upgrades or patches; collaborate with functional and technical staff to coordinate application of upgrade or fix; maintain tables; document processes and results
  • Provide support including researching and resolving problems, unexpected results or process issues; including complex Core HR situations
  • Review new business or software requests and recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements
  • Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation; serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders; use project management skills in managing projects; may provide overall project management for a given HR initiative
  • Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools; assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs; help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data
  • Maintain awareness of current trends with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support and applying key technologies
  • Analyze and report the need for system enhancements or customization

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with providing clear and professional verbal and written communication to a variety of customers, problem solving skills, attention to detail, accuracy and ability to follow through independently. Experience with HCM systems, specifically PeopleSoft or WorkDay.
  • Familiarity with university systems and human resources technologies (specifically PeopleSoft) or equivalent helpful.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, PeopleSoft queries (building and running).
  • Strong interest in computers and technology.
  • Previous experience leading team meetings, preparing agendas, and complex reports.
  • Intermediate to Expert level proficiency in Excel.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $65,000.00 per year
