Support and assist the Supply Chain Manager with specific input to the Manufacturing Forecast by determining order ship dates based upon available materials, labor, and capacity in addition to customer need. Assist and support the scheduling of manufacturing work centers to optimize customer delivery performance, maximize throughput in the factory and minimize inefficiencies.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in the organization of schedules for work centers as assigned
  • Schedule and Maintain work centers as assigned.
  • Analyze workload to assist Production Supervisors to determine staffing requirements
  • Interface daily with Manufacturing supervision to review compliance to schedule and adjust. Respond to input from the floor regarding daily schedule changes that will reduce set ups, improve compound usage, maximize run efficiency, and increase throughput.
  • Review long term capacity issues regularly. Communicate with Manufacturing to resolve raw material and wipe issues.
  • May interface with Inside Sales personnel to status orders. Assist Manager to adjust lead times as required for critical customers and provide feedback about processing problems for feedback to customers.
  • Assist in the monitoring of inventory levels particularly of stock and customer stock products as well as crib stock singles and repeat use raw materials. Promote timely delivery of required raw materials.
  • Assist the Manager with monitoring Manufacturing and Shipping activities near month end, ensuring these organizations are coordinated in their focus towards RSCC financial goals.
  • Promote organization through application of 5S and 80/20 principles. Promote and monitor safe practices in all areas.

These are the general duties required to fulfill the Production Control Specialist job description, not a detailed description of all the work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • College degree and/or APICS certification.
  • 5 years' experience in a Production Planning/Scheduling discipline in a job shop environment (Wire and Cable a plus)
  • Lean Six Sigma background is preferred

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Strong background in Decision Support Systems, EXCEL, Word, MRP systems
  • Ability to continually balance competing demands
  • Good listening skills.
  • Ability to negotiate/compromise and deal with constantly changing objectives.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
  • Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate with manufacturing team members as needed in an environment that can be noisy.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.
