Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Junior HR Business Partner in the Boston, New York, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Washington DC, or Wheeling, WV office.

The Role: The Junior HR Business Partner (HRBP) role serves as a strategic advisor to firm and department leadership, providing support on HR policies, talent management, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. In collaboration with the Head of HR and senior BPs, the Junior HRBP works closely with department leadership, staff, and management to support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. This role coordinates with other focus areas, including recruiting, talent assessment and development and compensation and benefits to ensure seamless HR service delivery.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with aligned team leaders to understand business objectives and align HR strategies to support organizational goals.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives for our professional staff.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and firm leadership to identify talent needs, development and succession planning opportunities.
  • Coordinate with HR centers of excellence, including recruiting, talent assessment and development and immigration to leverage existing resources and deliver consistent HR programs and communications.
  • Working closely with our Talent Development function, develop and facilitate training and development programs to enhance employee skills and engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, firm policies, and professional standards.
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends to recommend solutions for improving employee experience and firm performance.
  • Lead or support inclusion initiatives.
  • Advise on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage sensitive investigations and employee concerns with discretion and professionalism.
  • Serve as a resource for benefits, compensation, and leave administration questions, working closely with the Benefits team.
  • Contribute to HR projects and process improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, and/or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-4 years of HR experience, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Law firm or professional services experience
  • Demonstrated success in driving HR initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position:

  • California Major Markets* $55,000 - $75,000
  • New York City $55,000 - $75,000
  • National $48,000 - $62,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
