Job Description:

AMA seeks to hire an engagement lead to support the NASA Disasters Program Office of the Disaster Response Coordination System (DRCS). The lead will support the execution of Disasters Program Office strategy by building on existing stakeholder engagement goals and developing stakeholder Engagement Skills Training and briefing packages designed to highlight DRCS capabilities and their application to stakeholder needs. This opportunity is a part-time position supporting the DRCS in Hampton, Virginia or remote location as part of the Research, Science, and Engineering Services (RSES) contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Building on existing stakeholder engagement goals and objectives, maturity model, and planned blue-sky outreach activities

  • Incorporate insights of state-specific needs for tailoring implementation actions to state and local emergency management priorities, concerns, and engagement sensitivities

  • Outlining an iterative approach to stakeholder engagement

  • Developing topically focused stakeholder engagement skills training

  • Developing briefings to cover key skills for stakeholder engagement

  • Developing job aides (fact sheets, meeting facilitation prompts, and sample email text for engagement scenarios)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, disaster management, communications, or public policy.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in emergency preparedness and response

  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with subject matter experts and stakeholders

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Resilient and good under pressure

  • Must be a US person

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience with FEMA, EPA, or other national level organization
  • Self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team.
