Estimated annual base pay: $66,400 (minimum) - $83,000 (midpoint) - $99,600 (maximum)

The Operations Specialist 2 (Level 2) reports to Operations or Technical Leadership. The position supports production from a technical standpoint and has a solid understanding of the product being produced in the area. It is the first line of defense and/or consultant to Operations Specialist 1 regarding production related issues. The position solves difficult manufacturing problems and works with members to implement process and product improvements.

What you will be doing...

  • Implements six sigma/lean tools in a team setting. Drives process improvements. Organizes cell/area in 5S

  • Resolves problems on the manufacturing floor and assists in Root Cause Analysis

  • Recommends and implements process improvements for new product introductions and/or existing manufacturing processes

  • Identifies mistakes on various manufacturing documents and provides redlines to engineering

  • Writes and releases new work instructions and other manufacturing documentation. Revises existing work instructions and other manufacturing documentation

  • Trains Level 1 Operations Specialists and other members on manufacturing processes

  • Evaluates new tooling for application to current designs

  • Recommends and implements revisions of methods of operation or material handling, alterations in equipment layout or other changes to increase production or improve standards

  • Dispositions standard nonconformance's (i.e. QNs/NCRs/ATRs)

  • Builds prototypes and mockups with preliminary drawings

  • Participates in cross-functional team projects and initiatives

  • Programs production equipment using applicable software

  • Recommends or conceptualizes improvements with tools. May design tools

  • Creates complex process drawings utilizing applicable software

  • Maintains rework processes for manufacturing

  • Automation Specific Functions: 1. Solid understanding of applicable automated or semi-automated manufacturing processes and equipment and 2. Proven ability to access programming controls to make logic edits and changes

  • Machining Specific Functions: 1. Solid implementation of manufacturing processes and/or solid design and implementation of Computer Numeric Controls (CNC) programming and 2. Solid interpretation of specifications and participation in hardware disposition

  • Manufacturing & Assembly Specific Functions: 1. Solid implementation of manufacturing processes and/or design/training/implementation of processes including setup/programming/training for tooling, fixturing, assembly equipment, and manufacturing aids and 2. Solid interpretation of specifications and participation in hardware disposition

What we are looking for...

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience as an Operations Specialist or similar external role

  • Solid written/verbal communication skills

  • Solid understanding of six sigma tools and lean principles

  • Solid troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Solid computer skills (i.e. Excel, Word, SAP, WISE, PLM)

  • Able to manufacture fairly complex parts or assemblies with preliminary drawings. Able to operate more advanced test or manufacturing equipment

  • Able to interpret fairly complex schematics or drawings and identify mistakes. Basic GD&T knowledge

  • Automation Specific: 1. Solid knowledge of applicable automated or semi-automated manufacturing processes and equipment and 2. Proven ability to access programming controls to make logic edits and changes

  • Machining Specific: 1. Solid knowledge of applicable machining processes including Computer Numeric Controls (CNC) programming, 2. Solid interpretation of specifications and participation in hardware disposition and 3. Solid knowledge of cutting tools and machine capability

  • Manufacturing & Assembly Specific: 1. Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or design/training/implementation of processes including setup/programming/training for tooling, fixturing, assembly equipment, and manufacturing aids and 2. Solid interpretation of specifications and participation in hardware disposition
