Maintenance & Engineering Manager Our Maintenance & Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, and supporting the objectives of the Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering teams in an industrial production environment. This role is responsible for adhering to Lippert core values, safety guidelines, and lean initiatives. They will also provide support, as necessary, to Maintenance and Engineering leaders and team members. Our leaders instill a culture of failure being an opportunity to learn and improve and build the habit of problem-solving to the root cause of a failure to prevent recurrence. Responsibilities
- Day to Day - Ensures the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is fully utilized and managed. Reviews Maintenance KPI's to ensure production and facility systems are maintained according to schedule. Sets project assignments for Manufacturing Engineering and ensures problem solving actions are closed out with effective countermeasures.
- Continuous Improvement - Develops and implements the strategy to achieve continuous improvement objectives through cost and waste saving activity. Regularly reviews performance of both Maintenance and Engineering teams to identify opportunities for growth and develops the team members accordingly.
- Processes - Builds the discipline within the Maintenance and Engineering teams to document processes and procedures that align with the business goals established by the Director of Operations.
- Safety - Enforces Safety standards throughout the Maintenance and Engineering teams and throughout the facility. Participates in regular safety walks to identify opportunities to prevent safety incidents.
- Communication - Follows up with Requestors on work requests when complete or when additional information is available/needed. Effectively communicates expectations to the Maintenance and Engineering team. Mentors leaders to ensure they are supported in their personal and professional goals.
- Training - Creates training plans and opportunities for all team members; trains team members on Maintenance and Engineering best practices.
- Goals - Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met, and approved budgets are followed.
- Introduces new technology to the Maintenance and Engineering teams that will help improve response time, troubleshooting, and overall support of production objectives.
- Identifies CapEx projects and coordinates closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Director of Operations to ensure the plan is aligned with business objectives and budget.
- Ensures Maintenance plans (preventive and predictive) are established, followed, and tracked to measure effectiveness. Adjust the maintenance plan as needed to ensure minimum OA of 90% on production equipment.
- Establishes a spare parts plan to support production availability targets. Regularly reviews levels to ensure plans are effective and follow the budget.
- Owns the process documentation for how to manufacture product reliably and consistently. Ensures document control standards are followed.
- Owns the manufacturing tooling maintenance program, assigning ownership, schedules, and best practices to ensure tooling does not create defects nor downtime.
- Corrective Actions - Responsible for communicating with the Safety department to enforce current policy and implement corrective action plans throughout the facility
- Accountability - Responsible for hourly team member disciplinary actions, team member reviews, and team member timekeeping, field job assignment observation, and scheduling
- Coordination - Works with other team members to coordinate work between Maintenance/Engineering and outside vendors when necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred)
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager or in a supervisory role
- Previous experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer
- Experience organizing and overseeing multiple projects, and crews
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Department - Extensive knowledge of how a typical manufacturing engineering and maintenance department functions is preferred
- Repair - Previous education/experience with basic machine operation/repair as a technician is preferred
- Metal fabrication - Experience working in a metal forming/weld environment is preferred
- Coating Systems - Experience working in an environment with a wet or dry coating system is preferred
- Electrical experience - Experience using electrical test equipment, performing electrical repairs in-house, and troubleshooting electrical faults is preferred
- Mechanical experience - Experience servicing HVAC or pneumatic compressors is preferred
- Robotics experience - Experience maintaining 6-axis robots is preferred
- Schematics - Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints preferred
- Lean - Experience with preventive maintenance, world class manufacturing methodologies, predictive maintenance, 5s, lean/six sigma principles, and/or daily team maintenance preferred
- Overhead Doors - Experience diagnosing/resolving issues with overhead doors is preferred
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time salary position, and hours of work and days are based upon the need to support operations and production. Some weekends will be mandatory based on the Maintenance work schedule. Travel: Only local travel will be required regularly, with infrequent extended travel opportunities Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
