About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding our team and actively looking for dynamic individuals who are following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work. Our Bay Area office is seeking a self-motivatedProject Managerwith attention to detail and strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and experience in project permitting and project management to support clients in Northern and Central California. Individuals need to be willing and able to work with peers across various offices and accomplish tasks associated with a variety of projects in any given week. The Project Manager will manage and support projects from early planning and permitting through construction and/or restoration.

This is a full-time, salaried, regular (with benefits) role with the flexibility to work in a hybrid or remote capacity. SWCA offers a team-oriented work environment, competitive salaries, and a benefits package including an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).

What you will accomplish

As a Project Manager, you will manage, multi-disciplinary, and multi-location projects. Your responsibilities include:

  • Manage, prepare and review reports, technical documents, applications, information requests, proposals and other written deliverables.
  • Manage projects including overall responsibilities for budgets, schedules, technical staff deployment and mentoring, client relations, change management, report writing and technical report QA/QC and proposal scope and costing as appropriate.
  • As a Project Manager it's important to foster a friendly, positive, productive, and scholarly working relationship with team members while promoting a culture of teamwork, engagement, integrity, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Taking initiative and resolving issues to ensure client needs are met effectively.
  • Working with SWCA's accounting department to review invoices, expenditures, and project audits for projects and tasks.
  • Drive compliance of safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure overall team safety, especially for the field components supporting environmental planning projects.
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to ensure tasks are completed in the most effective manner.
  • Supervise, mentor and instruct technical staff, subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and positive morale between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Manage client relationships and conduct business development with new and existing clients.
  • Assist SWCA with its business development goals and objectives, and help insure the financial success of project activities.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of combined experience in project management; environmental consulting; or ecological, archaeological, or geographical studies.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in client management
  • Ability to manage projects in diverse settings and with changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced work environment and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Applicants must have valid driver's license and be able to meet SWCA's driver requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and technical writing, in a variety of professional settings.

An employee in this Bay Area CA based position can expect an annual salary of $88,000 - $114,660/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
