WHAT WE OFFER

The Product Technology intern provides technical support to material scientists within the Engineering Plastic's Product Technology team, whose mission is to deliver material solutions to customers in the areas of Automotive, Electronics and Healthcare. Contributing to our teams' focus on improving material performance and delivering timely solutions to customers is an essential part of this internship and entails testing the performance of materials prepared from carefully planned formulations and/or chemistries in the laboratory.

Responsibilities include:

  • Devise test plans to understand how material formulation influences key physical properties, in line with typical customer expectations in a given application.
  • Coordinate experimental work that includes material preparation, injection-molding and materials testing
  • Analyze data and prepare a summary that succinctly conveys key conclusions to project stakeholders
  • Collaborates across functions to leverage Covestro's materials know-how to maximize the impact and speed of the project.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program with a focus in one of the following majors: Chemistry, Polymer Science, Plastics, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related STEM degrees.
  • Completion of freshman year.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above strongly preferred.
  • Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science majors preferred.
  • Completion of junior year.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to interact and establish strong working relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Project coordination with the ability to be proactive and identify creative, effective technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
