Description

Starting Salary Range: $138,000.00 - $148,000.00 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

At MISO, we ensure electricity flows reliably to over 45 million people across the Central U.S. As a System Operator, you'll be at the heart of that mission, helping maintain the safe, reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System while working closely with other operators to resolve transmission congestion and manage risks around the clock.

In your first year as a System Operator, success will look like:



  • Exercising independent judgment and critical thinking in complex, unplanned scenarios
  • Demonstrating situational awareness and decisiveness in high-pressure situations
  • Effectively communicating and coordinating with your team to ensure safe, reliable operations


We're looking for professionals who have:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Business, or other related field OR at least 8 years relevant work experience equivalency in lieu of a degree
  • Four or more years in electric utility operations or transmission service environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following: electrical engineering, generation system dispatch, transmission system operations, merchant operations, generation operational planning, power accounting, distribution system operations, control center operations, energy market operations, system planning, reliability engineering, or SCADA/EMS system management
  • Either a current NERC/RC Certification, or the ability to obtain certification through on-the-job training and simulation/board certification
  • A proven ability to analyze, prioritize, and act decisively in real-time operations, demonstrating situational awareness, critical thinking, independent judgment, and effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders, while contributing to continuous process improvements and maintaining high standards of reliability and professionalism


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
