Under supervision, incumbents perform semi-skilled task to provide for establishing and maintaining irrigation for all research fields at Agricultural Operation Experiment Station. Operate and service various gates and valves to control rates of flow with furrow, drip, mini-sprinkler, and surface sprinkler systems. Use of University truck to haul equipment and to travel between work locations. Clean drain stands and furrows, unplug sprinkler emitters, flush mini-sprinkler lateral pipelines, repair damaged sprinkler hoses, and clean reservoirs. Connect furrows in orchards and plots. Regulate irrigation water applied to research plots and orchards. Follow irrigation schedule provided by the immediate supervisor. Record keeping, report daily changes to irrigation system, and other duties as assigned. Set up of irrigation systems in new and establishment research plots and surface pipe systems.
The full salary range for the Agricultural Technician is $21.05 - $28.89 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $21.05 - $22.81 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. ***Please note the realized minimum pay for this position will be $25 an hour.*** |
