Description

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This role carries elevated responsibility for ensuring food safety and quality within the organization.
  3. Oversee the development, implementation, ongoing review of the SQF Code and FSMA requirements, ensuring the continuous integrity of food safety plans through annual senior management reviews, proper documentation of all changes, and validation of modifications.
  4. Maintain accurate records for food safety programs, audits, corrective actions, and preventive measures. Prepare reports as required for management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  5. Effectively communicate critical food safety plan information to relevant personnel to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  6. Verification and Validation activities are the responsibility of the SQF Practitioner. Remove
  7. Manage pathogen environmental monitoring program.
  8. Assist with managing customer complaint system, including investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  9. Establish a defined schedule and methods for verifying and validating the following programs:

    1. Pre-Requisite Programs
    2. Critical Food Safety and Quality Limits
    3. Preventative and Process Controls


  10. Supervise the monitoring of the following programs:

    1. Pre-Requisite Programs
    2. Critical Control Points
    3. Critical Quality Points
    4. Preventative and Process Controls
    5. Other Food Safety Programs


  11. Coordinate and lead internal and external audits. Ensure the plant is consistently prepared for SQF certification audits, inspections, and other regulatory inspections (FDA, USDA, etc.).
  12. Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, and other plant policies/ procedures at all times.
  13. Perform Other duties as assigned , contributing to the overall success of the food safety and quality management systems.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelors' degree in dairy science, food science, or a biological science or related field preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Experience with GFSI, FSMA, HACCP and GMP's as they relate to food safety programs.
  • Technical knowledge of dairy industry is preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
