Facilities and Fleet (FAF) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Director, Capital Programs to lead complex, high-impact construction initiatives that help shape the future of County facilities. This is a rare opportunity to step into one of two Deputy Director roles dedicated to managing the day-to-day operations of the Capital Programs Division—together providing strategic oversight for the County’s capital construction portfolio.
In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for delivering a wide range of construction projects, from feasibility through completion. You will oversee planning, design, land acquisition, budgeting, contract negotiation, and project execution. Your work will directly support the delivery of safe, functional, and high-quality public facilities—ranging from new County buildings to major renovations and repairs.
You’ll work collaboratively with County departments, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This is a high-impact role for someone with both technical knowledge and leadership skills to guide complex projects within a large public agency.
Ideal Candidate: · A seasoned capital programs leader with at least 3 years in a supervisory role, preferably within a medium to large public organization · 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction project planning and delivery · Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar capital programs from concept to completion · Bonus if you are a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer in California and have experience with projects subject to state and federal regulations (e.g., HCAI, CBC, Public Contracts Code, FAR) · Experience in facilities operations or unionized environments is a plus
