** This role requires candidates to be onsite in Lexington, KY 3+ days a week. Preference will be given to those applicants already within a commutable distance.

A SAFE Epic Manager, also known as an Epic Owner, is responsible for defining, managing, and driving the execution of large, cross-cutting initiatives (Epics) within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. They ensure that these strategic initiatives align with the overall portfolio vision and deliver business value. This role will lead cross-functional initiatives focused on the design, implementation, and optimization of the enterprise network infrastructure.

This role bridges strategic planning and operational execution across network architecture, engineering, and operations-including LAN/WAN/WLAN, cloud connectivity, voice systems, and security frameworks. The EM will coordinate efforts between internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of network services aligned with Zero Trust and Agile transformation goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and Prioritize Epics:

Collaborate with stakeholders (Product Management, Solution Management, System Architects, IT Security/Cybersecurity) to decompose epics into features and capabilities, and prioritize them within the relevant backlogs.

Drive Epic Execution:

Facilitate the implementation of epics through the continuous delivery pipeline, ensuring they are broken down into manageable stories and features for Agile teams.

Coordinate and Synchronize:

Coordinate epic-related activities across various teams, including Agile teams, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and other business units (e.g., marketing, sales).Architecture Oversight: Coordinate with architects and engineers to unify legacy Lexmark and Xerox platforms under a single operational model.

Monitor Progress and Value Delivery:

Track the progress of epics, ensuring they align with the defined business outcomes and value streams.

Facilitate Learning and Adaptation:

Work with Agile teams to conduct research spikes, build proof-of-concepts, and facilitate the launch of Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

Ensure Alignment and Communication:

Maintain clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders throughout the epic lifecycle.

Evaluate and Iterate:

Evaluate the success of the epic, including its MVP, and determine whether to continue development or pivot based on the achieved results.

Escalate and Resolve Impediments:

Identify and escalate impediments that may hinder the progress of the epic, working with the relevant stakeholders to resolve them.

In essence, the Epic Owner acts as a facilitator, strategist, and decision-maker, ensuring that large, strategic initiatives are successfully executed and deliver the intended business value within the SAFe framework.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of experience managing projects in IT related network architecture, engineering, or operations.
  • Familiarity with Zscaler, Cisco, Fortinet, Azure, AWS, and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Strong understanding of network security protocols and compliance standards.
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe frameworks and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • PMP or SAFe certification.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and NAC technologies.
  • Prior experience in merger/integration environments (e.g., Lexmark-Xerox).
