DIVISION OVERVIEW The Equipment Finance (HEFS) Division is responsible for providing creative capital solutions for equipment acquisitions and leases to small and medium sized businesses through various referral channels to include OEM, dealers, vendors, distributors, brokers and captives. The Equipment Finance Division also works closely with other bank divisions, in a team/cross selling capacity to deliver first in class solutions to the banks clients while enhancing the banks brand and providing shareholder value. JOB OVERVIEW Underwrites primarily scored, "app-only" small and medium sized companies by reviewing and analyzing financial and industry data, borrower performance and management capabilities and tenure to assess credit worthiness and estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit to equipment finance customers. Credit Analyst will complete initial review of the credit submission and create customer folder as well as pull reports such as Paynet, Equifax, Clear, and completes various Google searches. Additionally, special projects will be assigned from time to time. The Credit Analyst will work effectively with the Small Ticket Credit Manager to aid in the processing of small ticket transactions. The ability to juggle tasks and assignments as new responsibilities are added or as specific assignments gain urgency, is necessary. The individual must be able to communicate clearly and tactfully with other members of the credit department, employees in other departments, and at times, customers.
Principal Accountabilities
Accountable for meeting specified goals related to proper loan risk rating determinations and productivity. Ensure proper maintenance of internal controls through a strong risk management focus and implementation of efficient workflow process. Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face/video conference, written and telephone communications. Responsible for adherence to regulatory compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), company policies and procedures, as well as the quality and timeliness of departmental activities. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities in which we serve through active involvement in local organizations and events.
Duties
- Perform the initial and ongoing credit analyses to determine if customer finance requests satisfy policy and procedure guidelines and prepare and process all applicable documentation and data entry. Make recommendations to management when requests fall outside of policy and or authority.
- Complete initial processing of small ticket credit submissions which entails setting up a customer folder and pulling the initial credit reports such as Paynet, Clear, Equifax, and various Google searches
- Review the equipment reseller for approval.
- Prepare objective written credit analyses including recommendation of risk ratings for scored requests and comparable market analysis regarding collateral coverage.
- Recommend procedural changes to management when inconsistencies are discovered during the scoring process.
- Consult with sales team and HEFS management to properly structure and price to mitigate risk in marketable solution.
- Serve as a participant in various HEFS and/or Bank committees as needed or assigned.
- Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
- Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, product, market, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in performance of daily tasks.
- Communicate effectively with other credit team members and individuals within other departments.
- Understand and implement HEFS credit policy.
- Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
- Other duties/special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a credit analyst in equipment finance or equivalent commercial or retail banking experience preferred but not required
- Experience with analyzing, credit reports and industry investigative reports preferred but not required
- Solid knowledge of relevant PC software applications, such as Word and Excel as well as CRM solutions is required. Familiarity with Sales Force preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment finance lending practices and industry standards preferred but not required
- Exceptional organization, time management and follow-up skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, bank employees and outside industry partners.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring superb analytical skills, detailed documentation and sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical computations using various business machines and/or computers.Must have proficient typing and computer skills.
- Candidates should be self-motivated, possess a desire to learn, and have aspirations for expanded responsibilities and growth within the company.
- Articulate with ability to communicate at all levels within in the organization and with external customers.
