Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Computational Toxicology Research Scientist IV at UL Research Institutes, based in our Research Triangle Park, NC, office.

The Computational Toxicology Research Scientist IV conducts advanced computational research to support the Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI) mission of advancing human and environmental health. This role focuses on building computational models that integrate, analyze, and interpret in vitro and in vivo toxicological data to assess potential human hazards and health risks. The Computational Toxicology Research Scientist IV works closely with other CIRI scientists and external collaborators to deliver high-quality scientific outputs that inform chemical safety, risk assessment, regulatory policy, and public awareness.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Computational Toxicology Research Scientist IV, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Design and execute computational toxicology studies aligned with CIRI's mission.

  • Develop and apply advanced computational toxicology methods that analyze, integrate, and interpret complex in vitro and in vivo toxicological and toxicokinetic data sets.

  • Oversee extraction, curation, and quality evaluation of unstructured and structured data from in vivo toxicological studies.

  • Maintain reference databases of in vivo toxicological studies from diverse regulatory and non-regulatory sources.

  • Collaborate with software developers and data engineers to incorporate in vitro and in vivo toxicological data sets into on-line dashboards and decision support tools.

  • Collaborate with chemists, toxicologists, exposure scientists, statisticians, and other multidisciplinary team members to integrate in vitro and in vivo toxicological data for chemical safety assessments.

  • Provide technical expertise in study design, data interpretation, and quality assurance for computational toxicology projects.

  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and scientific literature in toxicology in order to lead new computational toxicology efforts.

  • Present research findings at scientific conferences, stakeholder meetings, and technical forums.

  • Serve as author on technical reports and peer-reviewed publications.

  • Assist in writing research proposals and securing funding from internal and external sources.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
