Under the direction of the Coordinator, Credit for Prior Learning & Experiences, the CPLE Specialist processes transfer credits for incoming college or military transcripts, course substitution requests, and waivers within a student's program plan. This will need to be done within the institution's policies and procedures consistent with Credit for Prior Learning rules and regulations from MATC's Curriculum Department and the Wisconsin Technical College System's (WTCS) ESM manual. The CPLE Specialist will also work with potential and current students, staff, and advisors to interpret and translate college transcript information. They may also provide assistance and support with recruitment, enrollment, and retention/completion efforts. Be asked to assist in the implementation and assessments to enable expansion of CPLE throughout the college. Work requires the use of independent judgment, analysis, and decision-making while working with institutional and divisional policies procedures. Be able to work with other professionals in a team environment to reach departmental goals.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- Meet with potential and current students, staff, and advisors to review transfer credits if needed.
- Process transfer credit(s) for specific MATC courses based on skills learned as part of courses completed from another college, national exams, work experience, professional licenses, certificates, apprenticeships, military training or through specialized training programs.
- Familiar with Perceptive Content (ImageNow/WebNow), COSMOS (Colleague), the Transferology systems, and similar higher education CRM programs.
- Work closely with Admissions, Advising, Pathway offices, Faculties, and other college departments as needed.
- Assist with the update of the CPLE manual and stay up to date with the current ESM manual from the state.
- Attend WTCS state meetings as necessary; participate in trainings, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.
- Knowledge of student planning documents and academic program requirements.
- Ability to review students course information for transfer, articulation, and substitution to assist in program completion.
- Ability to provide information to faculty and other college representatives on transfer credit.
- Attend stakeholder meetings to maintain up to date knowledge regarding programs and provide feedback on improvements.
- Disseminate current, accurate articulation data to students, faculty and all appropriate departments.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
Required Education: Associate's degree in Education, Behavioral Sciences, Business or Marketing.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Required Experience: With Associate: Three (3) years of related* experience With Bachelor's: One (1) year of related* experience *Related experience: experience in student advising or student services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of reviewing college and military (Joint Service Transcripts (JST)) transcripts, the classes listed on the transcript, and able to translate information to process transferable college credits.
- Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid.
- Knowledge of student program plan documents and academic program requirements.
- Ability to communicate transfer findings to necessary team members enabling determination of transfer credit.
- Ability to work with Lead Faculty, Admissions, Advising, and Pathway offices to interpret and process transfer credits.
- Ability to recognize new transfer credits and work with appropriate Pathway faculty to determine application of credit and transferability.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective and current students.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate official transcripts from other colleges and universities.
- Understanding of curriculum development, instructional design, articulation agreements, WTCS guidelines, and assessment for CPLE.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects, meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience with computer software, applications, and data collection & report design.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service that supports end users.
- Ability to take initiative resolving customer issues and provide resolution.
- Ability to strive for excellence in performance by upholding established ethical standards.
- Provides frequent updates on operations and performance.
- Maintains productive work relationships while considering multiple perspectives and using effective conflict resolution practices.

Supplemental Information
-
Start Date: This position supports the Enrollment and Retention Division and is available to start immediately. Work Hours: 38.75 hours a week, in-person, primarily based out of the Downtown Campus, with the possibility of traveling to other campuses, as needed. Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 6:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
