Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Director of Building and Construction Portfolios is responsible for establishing and leading the development and execution of marketing communications and commercialization strategies for the full portfolio of building envelope products. This role focuses on driving product innovation, market penetration, and growth within the building envelope segment, including patent pending flashing, waterproofing, and weather barrier solutions. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Research and Development, Marketing, Sales, and Operations, to ensure successful product launches and market adoption driving revenue generation.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategic Leadership

    Develop and implement comprehensive commercialization strategies supported by strong marketing programs for the portfolio of building envelope products that align with the company's overall business objectives in these growing categories.
  • Identify market opportunities, trends, and competitive threats, to inform current and future product development and marketing strategies.
  • Essential in the development of talent within the Shurtape organization ensuring opportunity and key measurables are aligned and measured within the team structure.
  • Engagement with Insights and Innovation(I&I) on industry shifts, demographic information tied to new product development.

Product Development and Launch

  • Lead the product development lifecycle from concept to market launch of current in focus portfolios and the future state of portfolio development through collaboration with the Research and Development teams (R&D).
  • Drive the commercialization of the building and construction portfolio including content development, sales development tools, performance claims, regulatory approval, testing and certification as well as advertising and syndication efforts through Shurtape cross functional teams.
  • Recommend and control the complete portfolio offering inclusive of brand positioning, product pricing, and distribution path for the portfolio.

Market Analysis and Positioning

  • Conduct thorough market research with the support of cross functional teams to understand customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop product positioning and messaging strategies that effectively communicate the value proposition of building envelope solutions.

Sales and Marketing Collaboration

  • Key interface with sales and marketing functions in the development of portfolio development and launch strategies, distribution strategies, promotional material development, and sales enablement tools.
  • Provide training and support for sales teams to ensure they are well-equipped to sell the building envelope products.

Customer Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, architects, contractors, and industry stakeholders to gather feedback and promote product adoption.
  • Develop and own advisory board partners as required to ensure industry knowledge and alignment.
  • Engage in customer outreach and presentations to showcase product benefits and applications.

Performance Measurement

  • Deliver and exceed annual revenue and profit objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of commercialization efforts and make data-driven decisions.
  • Monitor product performance in the market, gathering insights to inform future product enhancements, and marketing strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA in Business, Marketing and MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years in marketing experience, 5+ years in management role and experience in product marketing, consumer goods a plus.
  • Relevant Experience in the Construction Industry with focus on Building Envelope and/or Curtainwall technology and a clear understanding of building design trends and regulations.
  • Strong Industry relations in areas of architectural design, general contractor processes, and commercial distribution.
  • Envision the building envelope of the future and ensure New Product Innovation (NPI) and possess the ability to share the vision and roadmaps with potential Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners to align capability to future state always thinking with a technology leadership mindset.
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term marketing strategies that drive business growth across broad distribution channels.
  • Complete P&L understanding from product cost analysis to financial assessment of the overall business.
  • Understanding of corporate strategic planning processes.
  • Motivation to get the job done to exceed performance standards.
  • Proven track record of product development/innovation, creativity, sales growth and profitable results.
  • Significant collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, finance, and supply chain, to ensure alignment on product availability, pricing, and distribution strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market data, customer insights, and performance metrics.
  • Tie KPIs to measurable data analytics to monitor and measure success across a broad set of initiatives.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas for product development and marketing initiatives.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills to work effectively with customers and partners.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Analytic tools.
  • Strong presentation skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong strategic, marketing, analytic, planning/execution, motivation, communication (both written and verbal) and advocacy/diplomacy skills are routinely required in order to succeed in this highly visible, challenging position.
  • Entrepreneurial drive to take a business into new, uncharted territory.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams of people.
  • Ability to travel overnight 10-20% of the time. The role will involve a combination of office work and field visits to construction sites, trade shows, and customer locations.
