Job Purpose:

The Senior Lead Network Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for enterprise-level networking initiatives, ensuring seamless, secure, and reliable connectivity across the client environment. This role is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and supporting both physical and logical networks, including WAN, LAN, and communication infrastructures. The Senior Lead Network Engineer will play a critical role in aligning network architecture with mission objectives, guiding technical strategy, and managing resources to meet performance, security, and availability requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on major network tasks and assignments, establishing goals and strategies to meet project and program objectives.
  • Direct and control network engineering activities, including financial management, staffing, and technical methods.
  • Plan, design, and implement enterprise WAN, LAN, and communication infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with client staff to identify voice, data, and video communication requirements.
  • Perform system-level assessments of communication systems and network performance.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend network technologies, protocols, and applications for enterprise adoption.
  • Support the mission by ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across all endpoints in the infrastructure.
  • Plan, acquire, field, configure, and operate network equipment, firewalls, and internet access tools.
  • Conduct analysis of interoperability, integration, and deployment issues, applying network design tools and methodologies.
  • Develop designs to support advanced functions such as e-commerce and electronic data interchange (EDI).
  • Design and optimize network topologies, site configurations, and operational strategies.
  • Perform modeling and analysis at multiple protocol layers and develop prototypes for communication systems.
  • Analyze network characteristics and recommend procurement, upgrades, removals, or modifications to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Supervise and mentor network engineering staff, providing technical direction and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices, security standards, and organizational requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 12-15 years of relevant professional experience as a network engineer or related role.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Base-level certification such as CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification required.
