Job Requirements

This role will formalize business needs into technology requirements, and defining data governance standards and principles to adhere to. They will architect pipelines to mutate, enrich, and deliver data to the necessary stakeholders. We expect this role to coach our customers as they migrate towards a more data-driven culture. They are foundational to the success of any data project, and are essential to any cloud project that intends to scale.

The Impact You Will Create:

The Total ITRegs project supports modernizing and maintaining critical federal technology systems that serve both agencies and the public.The work spans system development, modernization, and 24/7 operations - including rebuilding legacy platforms on modern cloud architectures, improving performance and security, enabling data-driven decision making, and ensuring reliable, continuous operations. The teams collaborate closely with GSA stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly solutions that strengthen government services and enhance public engagement.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Coach teams on how to make informed decisions using data effectively.
  • Be an advocate for best practices and continued learning.
  • Takes initiative for their own growth through personal leadership.
  • Designs and implements internal processes for automating data delivery and optimization.
  • Builds and maintains secure tooling and infrastructure for scalable automated data pipelines and machine learning models that align with business needs.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Collaborates with Data Scientists and Business Analysts to improve data models that solve problems and support data-driven decision making.
  • Supports regular ad-hoc data and analysis needs to better understand customer behaviors.
  • Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality and volume, ensuring data is accurate and available.
  • Performs analysis required to troubleshoot data-related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
  • Evaluates data ingestion, data analysis, and machine learning tools for efficacy.
  • Work with stakeholders, including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams, to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop a strategy for long-term data platform architecture.
  • Evaluates existing data systems to improve data quality and governance.

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency working with message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
  • Proficiency in implementing infrastructure to extract, transform, and load data in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc).
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance with respect to data and models.
  • Proficient with distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, or cloud-provider equivalents.
  • Proficiency with data collection, transformation, and data storage tools and software.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements, and prioritize those requirements based on business impact and deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements, including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Proficiency with Python, R, Scala, or Java.
  • Proficiency with both SQL databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc.), and NoSQL Databases (MongoDB, Apache Cassandra, etc.).
  • Experience working with message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
  • Exceptional business acumen, verbal presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Extensive experience working with stakeholders.
  • Experience with machine learning tools and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
  • Experience with Splunk, the ELK Stack, or similar.
  • Experience working with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tooling.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:

Minimum Salary: $102,540

Salary Midpoint: $133,302

Maximum Salary: $164,064

Hiring Range: $102,540 - $143,359
