Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Program Services plays a key leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of LTCIS programs for adults with disabilities. This position ensures high-quality service delivery, promotes person-centered practices, and leads staff development initiatives to build a skilled, compassionate workforce. The Assistant Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to foster inclusive, engaging, and empowering environments for program participants.

Primary Duties

  • Support the Director in managing day-to-day operations of multiple community-based programs.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate training programs for direct support professionals and the LTCIS management team.
  • Facilitate onboarding, continuing education, and competency-based learning aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure competency assessments are integrated into performance evaluations and the training process.
  • Assist in incident reporting, investigations, and resolution processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, agency policies, and best practices in disability services.
  • Monitor program quality and participant outcomes, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Develop and implement a standardized process for assessing and maintaining staff competencies as established by DBHDS and required by DD waiver regulations.
  • Lead initiatives that promote community integration, inclusion, and meaningful engagement.
  • Mentor and coach staff to foster professional growth and high performance.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to identify workforce development needs and solutions.
  • Identify and retrain employees who demonstrate deficiencies in specified areas.
  • Train and support staff to maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures, state, and federal regulations as applicable.
  • Participate in site visits and audits to assess program quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, Education, Social Work, or related field required, (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in disability services, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role required.
  • Strong knowledge of person-centered practices, adult learning principles, and community-based programming preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to lead with empathy, integrity, and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Supervisory/management experience in an organization providing services to adults with disabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other basic computer programs.

Work Environment
