The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH), an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is seeking a visionary and dynamic physician to serve as the Director of Endoscopy. The successful candidate will oversee the hospital's renowned pediatric endoscopy program, which provides cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for infants, children, and adolescents with digestive, pancreatic, and liver diseases. The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Boston Children's Hospital currently has over 70 gastroenterologists, 25 fellows in training, and ~25 advanced practice providers dedicated to clinical care, education, and research. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical, academic, and research background and will lead a multidisciplinary team to advance pediatric endoscopic care, foster research, and provide education for future leaders in the field.
The candidate will be eligible for an appointment at Harvard Medical School as an Assistant/Associate Professor or Full Professor, if they teach Harvard associated learners at least 50 hours/year, commensurate with qualifications, achievements and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Oversight and Leadership: Direct the clinical operations of the Gastroenterology Procedure Unit (GPU) at Boston Children's Hospital, as well as satellite locations (currently in Lexington and ultimately in Needham, MA) that ensure world-class GI procedural care for pediatric patients. Responsibilities include optimizing procedural block utilization, improving patient access, overseeing scheduling, and ensuring adherence to best practices for safety and quality across all pediatric GI procedures.
- Program Development and Strategy: Drive the growth and innovation of the pediatric endoscopy program, incorporating the latest technologies and techniques. Partner with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategic goals that enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate closely with anesthesia, nursing, and administrative leadership to ensure optimal endoscopic services, including safe and effective sedation, seamless high-level disinfection and efficient room utilization. Build strong partnerships across departments to enhance the procedural and perioperative experience.
- Education and Mentorship: Lead the educational efforts of the endoscopy program by providing mentorship and guidance to fellows, residents, and colleagues. Participate in and contribute to the academic mission of the hospital, including teaching, curriculum development, and continuing medical education (CME) events.
- Quality Assurance and Improvement: Develop and monitor performance metrics to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Partner with the quality and safety departments to implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing clinical outcomes.
- Research and Innovation: Support and lead research initiatives focused on pediatric endoscopic procedures. Encourage interdisciplinary research collaborations and promote the academic growth of the division through publications, clinical trials, and other scholarly activities.
- Operational Management: Oversee the administrative aspects of the endoscopy unit, including equipment procurement, maintenance, and upgrades. Contribute to management of personnel, budget, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.
- Patient and Family-Centered Care: Ensure that all care is delivered in a compassionate, family-centered manner, responsive to the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families.

Qualifications:
