Job Summary

PROGRAM AREA: Aquatics

JOB TITLE: Event Staff

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time seasonal

STARTING HOURLY RATE: $17.00

HOURS PER WEEK: 3 - 21

JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as a safety of the facility when aquatics programs are running.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual.

Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.

A working knowledge of the Late-Night League and TW Sports policies, procedures, programs, and services.

Provide a safe environment for teams, participants, and spectators. Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility.

Assist with scanning and entry control operations.

Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff.

Always be professional in the workplace.

Assist with providing general direction and instructions to spectators

Provide secure and safe dressing facilities for visiting teams and officials

Set up crowd control and safety equipment, if need be.

Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalate.

Assist with the staging of pre-game and post-game activities.

Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Provide a safe environment for teams, participants, and spectators.

Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility.

Assist with scanning and entry control operations.

Ancillary support to the pool manager or building director with all crisis intervention management of potential hostile situations.

Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff.

Always be professional in the workplace.

Assist with providing general direction and instructions to spectators

Provide secure and safe dressing facilities for visiting teams and officials

Set up crowd control and safety equipment.

Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalate.

Assist with the staging of pre-meet and post-meet activities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Have a strong desire to work and mentor young people in the community.

Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.

Possess effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, and staff.

Ability to foster positive working relationships.

Ability to relate to and empathize with participants' issues and de-escalate conflicts.

Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.

Ability to delegate job duties as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
