Job Description


Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant for its Corporate Hourly Payroll Department based in Lenexa, KS. This individual will ensure completion and accuracy of hourly payroll and union reporting.


Additional responsibilities include:


Payroll Processing & Accuracy



  • Direct and oversee various aspects of the company's hourly payroll.
  • Ensure weekly payroll is processed accurately and timely, including reporting requirements.
  • Manage general ledger posting after each payroll cycle.
  • Complete other assigned duties and special projects as needed.


Union Payroll & Compliance



  • Ensure all union payments and reporting are processed accurately and on time, prioritizing known problem areas and larger unions.
  • Monitor and reconcile union accounts regularly.


Reporting & Analysis



  • Produce weekly and monthly payroll and union reports, and conduct analysis as required.
  • Reconcile and transmit payroll and tax information to appropriate vendors quarterly.
  • Review and reconcile quarterly and year-end payroll reports with precision and attention to deadlines.


Collaboration & Issue Resolution



  • Partner with internal Accounting and Tax Departments to resolve bank reconciliation issues and government agency requests.


Oversight



  • Guide the payroll department for optimal results, ensuring sensitivity to field cut-off dates and overtime requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures.


Basic Requirements



  • Associate's degree or higher education in accounting
  • 5 years' experience in payroll and accounting for companies with $500MM+ annual revenue
  • 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of union trust fund payments and practices
  • Knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and federal/state labor compliance laws
  • Experience processing payroll across multiple locations
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills; able to efficiently prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at various levels
  • Self-motivated, improvement-focused, and customer-oriented
  • Demonstrable adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced work environment
  • Adherence to the highest standards of safety and quality


Preferred Requirements



  • Knowledge of construction industry operations
  • Experience with Dayforce Payroll is preferred
