Job Purpose

The Water Resources Engineering Intern would be working primarily with Professional Engineers on a variety of projects. They will work primarily with our Water Resources Engineering group on hydraulics and hydrology analysis, stormwater management design, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, shoreline restoration and stream restoration. They may have the opportunity to work with our Planning Group on noise analysis for projects and our Environmental Scientists in our Natural Resources division as well. The internship could start immediately and possibly extend through the fall semester of 2023.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in the development of a wide variety of water resource design, assessment, planning and monitoring projects.
  • Perform basic stormwater management, drainage, water/wastewater, erosion sediment control design analyses including performing calculations under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Learn and utilize CADD and other tools to determine drainage areas and other hydrologic components in support of H&H analyses.
  • Perform field investigations, assessments, and surveys under the guidance of senior engineers to support our design projects.
  • Assist in noise analysis for roadways, rail, and construction projects in addition to air quality analysis
  • Prepare components of technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers summarizing analysis and project requirements
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Actively enrolled in an accredited Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related Undergraduate program.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated interest in Water Resources Engineering or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WRE work and projects.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Microstation
  • Geopak/Inroads
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • ArcGIS
