This is a 0.56 FTE position that is scheduled to work 30 hours per week, 9 months per year (mid-August to mid-May) with the summers off. Summary of Position The Muslim Student Program Associate is a student-facing position that serves as part of the University's Campus Ministry Team to lead and strengthen the Muslim Student program. This position provides community-building opportunities to Muslim students through the Campus Ministry office and across campus by creating programming that supports opportunities for Muslim students to experience meaning, belonging, and empowerment within the Augsburg Community. Primary Responsibilities
- Advise and work with Muslim student organizations on campus in order to grow their leadership development and to ensure quality programming.
- Coordinate and lead Friday daily Prayer (Jummah) services throughout the academic year, the MSA Dinner celebration, and the Annual Muslim American Society and Islamic Circle North America Conference.
- Advocate on behalf of Muslim students, respond to students in crisis, and address bias incidents on campus.
- Establish, maintain, and foster strategic partnerships with key departments, offices, individuals, and community organizations to support student success and retention.
- Collaborate and meet regularly with community partners to foster student support and provide resources and engagement in the wider community.
- Attend monthly student organization executive committee meetings and serve as a chaperone for programs, retreats, and celebrations.
- Provide administrative support for Augsburg Somali Student Union (ASSU), Oromo Student Union (OSU) and Ethiopian Eritrean Student Union (EESU) in collaboration with the Multicultural Life office.
Additional Responsibilities
- Meet periodically with Campus Ministry related student organization leaders - Hillel, Muslim Student Association (MSA), and Augsburg University Student Ministries (AUSM).
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate Interfaith Bridge Building and Interfaith Ally Training for Augsburg staff, faculty, and students as needed.
- Partner with Admissions to increase student enrollment.
- Other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Typical work environment is in an office, working at a desk for long periods of time.
- This role requires working in-person on-campus during the academic year when classes are in session.
- Regular computer and phone use.
- Some evening and weekend work required.
- Occasional travel for conferences and service trips.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of the Islamic faith.
- At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience working with college students and/or young adults in the context of Islam.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working among ethnic-specific communities of faith.
- Community organizing experience.

- Demonstrated skills and interest in interfaith dialogue and service.
- Strong public leadership, mentoring, coaching, and counseling skills.
- Culturally agile and proficient.
- Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality and set appropriate boundaries with students, faculty and staff.

- Ability to show initiative; organize workflow; manage one or more projects; and handle frequent interruptions.

- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a campus ministry team member as well as work independently with little supervision.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg
- The compensation range is $27,500 - $30,000 per year, DOQ.
