We Require
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field A combination of related post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis May be required to obtain specific technical certifications, as requested by the supervisor Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Experience in landscape architecture that includes knowledge of landscape design standards, Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), and Low Impact Development (LID), with the ability to provide recommendations and implement solutions on large-scale flood control projects Principles and practices of landscape architecture and GSI and LID in the planning, designing, and constructing multi-use recreation, land restoration, and structural aesthetic features of public works projects Plant materials and design principles for projects in the Arid Desert Southwest Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to evaluate complex issues, manage multiple priorities, prepare clear documentation, deliver presentations, and build effective working relationships with diverse groups Skilled with personal computers and software applications, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Job Contributions
Implement landscape architecture, GSI, and LID features on Flood Control projects. Prepare L/A, GSI, and LID details and Plans & Specifications Provide information for and participate in developing and implementing landscape architectural, multiple-use, structural aesthetics, and GSI and LID for flood control projects and associated features Under general supervision, provide limited reviews of project plans, designs, and other deliverables prepared by consultants and District staff for consistency within the project's design intent and scope of work. Attends project coordination meetings, design comment resolution meetings, and other meetings as needed and directed by the supervisor Assist in the development of landscape architectural, vegetation management, structure aesthetics, multiple use, and GSI and LID related design guidelines; standardized design details; prepare renderings, and design criteria for the planning, design, construction, and ongoing maintenance of existing and future District projects, as directed by the supervisor Conduct limited field reconnaissance to verify, inspect, and photo-document project site conditions and the success of various plantings on project sites. As directed, assist in preparing site plans, construction details, and specifications for District public works projects Ability to educate and encourage the use of such landscape, GSI, and LID elements in developing Flood Control projects
Working Conditions
Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration The incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noises, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. The position is subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
