Job Summary

The Lead Duke Energy Foundation Manager manages strategic philanthropy for Duke Energy in North Carolina. They direct grantmaking support the Foundation's strategic priorities and lead partnership management, grant cultivation and engagement with nonprofit organizations in the region. They manage corporate sponsorships, community giving and employee volunteerism supporting the company's North Carolina Regional Headquarters in Raleigh. The job plays a key role in enhancing Duke Energy's image, brand and reputation in local and regional communities through external engagement and strategic investment of corporate resources.

Responsibilities
  • Lead external engagement with a customer service mindset for strategic partnerships

  • Direct grantmaking, community giving and corporate sponsorships

  • Manage ongoing support for internal business unit partnerships in support of philanthropic strategy

  • Oversee highly visible and engaging employee volunteerism opportunities in the Raleigh region

Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant field such as public administration, business, communication, political science, social work, nonprofit management, etc.

  • At least ten years of relevant work experience in a corporate or nonprofit environment

  • A working understanding of North Carolina's nonprofit sector, the Raleigh region and the external environment and dynamics of the state

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience leading external engagement and strategic partnerships for a company

  • Experience managing grants or sponsorship programs

  • Experience leading internal partnerships across a highly-matrixed institution

  • Experience managing highly visible innovative opportunities

  • Experience leading employee volunteer engagement

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility

  • Available for nights and weekends

Specific Requirements

To perform this job, there is a matrix/dotted-line working relationship with others in the following positions at Duke Energy:

  • Government and Community Relations Directors and Managers in the North Carolina President's Organization

  • Corporate Communications, particularly regional communications managers supporting North Carolina

  • Other colleagues as needed across business units based in Raleigh or supporting the North Carolina team

To perform this job, there is frequent interaction with others in the following positions at external companies, regulatory agencies, or other organizations:

  • Nonprofit partners and community organizations across the Raleigh region and State of North Carolina
