PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE TECHNICIAN I- MET LAB

  • Prepare samples for analysis and perform a limited range of basic metallurgical services under the direct supervision of the Group Leader.
  • Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness, tensile, and resistivity tests.
  • Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment, and standard metallographic tools.
  • Collect and record test data obtained during evaluations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • This position may be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Sample Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, or Heat Treating.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TECHNICIAN I - MET LAB

  • High school diploma required.
  • Entry level position 0-1 years of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE TECHNICIAN I - MET LAB

  • Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgical and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines with guidance from others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to conduct entry-level activities that are narrow in scope and relatively low in complexity.
  • Ability to operate basic metallurgical and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a production-oriented environment under direct supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
