A Brief Overview

We're excited to invite a passionate and experienced Senior Revenue Cycle Business Process Consultant to join CHOP's team! This role supports and optimizes revenue cycle processes that span multiple departments, workflows, and systems.

You'll play a vital part in analytic efforts through report development, data quality assurance, process mapping, and detailed analysis.

You'll lead business process improvement initiatives focused on enhancing Epic systems, driving automation, improving quality, and boosting efficiency-leveraging skills in report writing, data validation, and business case development. As a key collaborator, you'll guide multi-disciplinary teams across the organization to implement impactful system and process changes.

Beyond your technical expertise, you'll also have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior team members, helping to foster a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys working with data, and is skilled in project management and process improvement. Experience with revenue cycle applications like Epic and other HIM or coding platforms is highly valued. This is a full-time, permanent remote role with CHOP, working Monday through Friday during core business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).

What you will do

Revenue Process Support, Workflows and Systems
  • Develop and maintain written documentation for processes that exist between departments, systems, external vendors, and payers.

  • Act as a high-level business process consultant between operations, performance improvement, and IT for needs that cross boundaries. Implement adaptable processes and practices that respond to changing organizational, business, and payer demands.

  • Complement existing departmental relationships to enhance and expedite performance improvement activities.

  • Review business process, system, or other changes that might impact workflows; recommend methods to optimize and improve efficiency. Review system or process architecture for assigned projects.

  • Perform business impact reviews of test plans that span across departments, workflows, or systems to assess impact, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Create, optimize, and support implementation of processes closely linked to system workflows; assess staffing impact, refresh workflows regularly, and recommend optimal change management processes.

  • Direct cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues related to automated workflows or other complex processes. Lead discussions with business and operational leaders to analyze reporting needs, configure and model data, and develop reports using specialized software knowledge.

  • Communicate clearly and foster an environment for open dialogue to collaboratively optimize workflows and processes.

Data Reporting and Analysis
  • Create and manage financial and operational reports on both regular and ad hoc bases using report writing and data warehousing software; provide consultation to ensure operational reporting meets user needs.

  • Serve as the primary liaison to internal and external CHOP user groups for revenue cycle data reporting and analysis. Assist leadership and staff in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data effectively.

  • Develop and build reporting solutions that monitor and benchmark cost, utilization, quality, and performance indicators. Support senior leadership by providing relevant data to inform strategic and operational plans and process improvements.

  • Develop business case analyses to support process optimization and organizational change.

  • Troubleshoot and solve issues related to business intelligence reporting; analyze data to understand business impacts and recommend alternate solutions. Collaborate closely with IT to resolve issues promptly.

Leadership & Communication
  • Mentor junior team members and operational staff as needed.

  • Exhibit strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present findings to senior executives.

  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, including database analysis; experience with statistical software is a plus.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least seven (7) years experience with System Design, process workflow design or business/systems consulting - Required
  • EPIC experience is preferred - Preferred
  • Revenue Cycle experience is preferred - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and communication skills (Required proficiency)
  • Strong computer skills to include database analysis (Required proficiency)
  • Statistical software experience (Preferred proficiency)
  • Extensive knowledge of workflow and/or system design (Required proficiency)
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical tools, business intelligence tools and statistical packages (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • EPIC certification - EPIC - - Preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) - American Society for Quality (ASQ) - - Preferred
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) - Project Management Institute (PMI) - - Preferred
