Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • An associate's/bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience (preferably in a manufacturing/industrial setting)
  • Strong understanding of shipping procedures, freight coordination, and inventory systems
  • Experience with ERP or WMS
  • Able to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization, communication, problem-solving, and Microsoft Office skills



Assistant Shipping Manager Job Tasks



  • Oversee all shipping operations, including scheduling, packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and logistics partners to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with warehouse and production teams to guarantee order accuracy.
  • Supervise, train, and support shipping staff while ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and generate reports on delivery performance, costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve shipping issues, delays, or discrepancies promptly and professionally.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards (DOT, OSHA, etc.).
  • Manage shipping supplies and equipment to maintain readiness and operational efficiency.
