General Purpose: SEMO Tank (a wholly owned subsidiary of Dairy Farmers of America) sells, leases, and repairs tank trailers and offers a vast inventory of related parts for resale. The Service Technical Advisor is responsible for coordinating with the Shop Manager and Purchasing Team to facilitate the timely maintenance and repair of customer and company owned tank trailers, oversee and administer the company's ASME and 3A certification, compliance, and testing, and develop and oversee specialized training programs within the shop that elevate the technical skills and abilities of personnel. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for (as the quality control manager) the ASME and 3A renewals, maintaining the ASME files and manuals, completing DOT updates as required, and ordering and tracking the usage of 3A plates
- Develop, implement, and oversee specialized training programs within the shop that elevate the technical skills and abilities of personnel
- Be the designated backup to the Shop Manager, directing and overseeing operations in the shop during the Shop Manager's scheduled time off
- Write up work orders and enter work orders into SAP
- Notify accounting daily of all jobs completed in the shop that are ready for invoicing
- Be a direct contact for customers and sales staff, assisting with the scheduling of repairs and notification of completion of work
- Coordinate with the Shop Manager to maintain the shop schedule/backlog and regularly communicate it to the team
- Coordinate with purchasing on inventory requirements of planned parts for upcoming jobs to ensure completion of all work orders without delay
- Actively promote adherence to safety procedures and established company policies in general

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D. with 5 years of progressive supervisor management experience in the mechanical/auto/truck/tractor/tank trailer restoration and/or repair industry
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; Course(s) of Study: Business Management, Transportation or related field of study with at least 3 years of progressive experience as a Maintenance Manager/Supervisor
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations as related to the trailer industry (Class 8)
