DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform annual state inspections for safety and emissions on state vehicles. You will complete inspection repairs, ensure compliance with state regulations, conduct road tests, and complete inspection stickers and related records. You will also perform preventative maintenance on both gas and diesel units including tune-ups, tires changes, transmission services, coolant flushes, and filter changes. This role requires completing most maintenance and repair actions independently and the ability to complete advanced diagnoses and upfitting. In addition, you will respond to requests for road service and repair, install suspension components, and replace brake, electrical, cooling, and fuel systems.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
