DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Director of Social and Rehabilitative Services, Mental Health. you will coordinate, integrate, and administer hospital social and rehabilitative services consisting of the Social Service, Psychology, Chaplaincy Service, Volunteer Resources, Therapeutic Activities, Vocational Adjustment Services, Adult Basic Education, Physical Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, and Occupational Therapy departments. You will plan, direct, coordinate, and maintain programs of active rehabilitation which meet the needs of every patient by complementing the medical and nursing evaluation of patient medical and emotional challenges. You will also supervise Directors and ensure the operational aspects of services maintain compliance with all guidelines, rules, and regulations. This role requires using sound management principles and practices necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of individual departmental programs, develop policies and procedures, and provide guidance and goal direction to department directors that maximize the therapeutic potential of all disciplines. In addition, you will participate in hospital meetings, committees, and community enrichment activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in human services or inpatient service delivery, which includes two years of experience in the field of mental health or in working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience; and four years of paraprofessional experience in social or behavioral sciences, occupational, physical or recreational therapy, speech pathology, education, nursing, health care management or health care administration, or a related field; or
  • Five years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in human services or inpatient service delivery, which includes two years of experience in the field of mental health or in working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience; and a bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, occupational, physical or recreational therapy, speech pathology, education, nursing, health care management or health care administration, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in the field of mental health or working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
