DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in a diverse range of tasks focused on the repair and maintenance of structures, bridges, equipment, and machinery, all aimed at ensuring the safety of the traveling public. The responsibilities require a journeyman level of expertise across various trades, including carpentry, welding, masonry, electrical work, and plumbing. During the winter months, your role will also involve supporting the county's winter operations, which encompasses maintaining these structures and equipment to uphold public safety. To prolong the lifespan of these assets, you will undertake various activities such as constructing concrete formwork, placing and finishing concrete, installing environmental controls, building temporary shoring, welding metal support structures and replacement parts, and painting surfaces as directed by your supervisor. Additionally, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of structures, bridges, culverts, retaining walls, facilities, and other roadway infrastructures, utilizing your advanced skills across multiple trades. Your duties will also include operating a wide array of construction equipment, such as arc and MIG welders, pipe threaders, concrete saws, chainsaws, air compressors, hammer drills, jackhammers, chipping hammers, de-scalers, generators, pumps, carpentry tools, power tools, forklifts, personal lifting devices, bucket trucks, and a variety of hand tools, as well as other power and pneumatic tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 75 hours bi-weekly.
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's license.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
