Job Overview:

  • FDI Taiwan Consultant must have and be able to demonstrate experience or demonstrate the ability to succeed by submitting a specific plan and strategy in the following:

1. identify, recruit, and create leads for TNECD of companies interested in setting up an operation in the US;

2. make and maintain connections with companies, organizations, local multipliers, and US governmental agencies located in the FDI Consultants respective geographical area;

3. understand and implement TNECDs goals;

4. comply with tasks as assigned by TNECDs FDI Director;

5. work with TNECDs FDI Director and other members of TNECDs Business Developments team; and

6. maintain fluency in English and the native language of the applicable geographical area.

  • FDI Taiwan Consultant must be able to travel within the geographical area of the country they represent under the FDI Consultants contract with the State and to the United States as requested by TNECD.
  • FDI Taiwan Consultant must be able to host delegations consisting of TNECD and state leadership. Strong preference will be given to potential candidates that engage in no other professional business apart from its contract with TNECD.
  • Strong preference will be given to potential candidates that will be located in the geographical area of representation (Taiwan).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary measure of success will be the Contractors contributions to meeting the States annual economic development expectations for lead generation by identifying and recruiting companies to establish operations in the State of Tennessee.
  • The Contractor shall perform activities that contribute to a minimum of five (5) generated leads resulting from recruiting new companies to the State of Tennessee.
  • A lead is generated when, at the States sole discretion, the Contractor identifies a qualified company that is ready to receive site information from the States Director of Business Development.
  • Generation of leads will be reviewed on an annual basis by the States Global Director of FDI and Business Development (FDI Director) and the Deputy Commissioner for Business, Community and Rural Development (Deputy Commissioner).
  • The Contractor will be responsible for generating and maintaining a verified pipeline of projects and potential targets.
  • The Contractor will work with the FDI Director to complete the following deliverables, which support the goals of lead generation and job creation:

a. The Contractor will work with the FDI Director to agree on specific target companies and industries for the Contractor to contact over the following month.

b. The Contractor will meet with ten (10) prospective companies per month. The Contractor will input the details of these meetings, and other meetings and events, into the States designated database on a weekly basis.

c. The Contractor will conduct a bi-weekly review and planning call with the FDI Director.

d. On a monthly basis, the Contractor will hold four (4) stakeholder and multiplier meetings.

e. The Contractor will travel to Tennessee on an as-needed basis at the States sole discretion.

  • The Contractor will also be prepared to support visits by the State, including State of Tennessee officials, to Taiwan at least twice per year.
